The motoring festivaltakes place in the middle of the Dutch city along a curved route between the WillemsbrugBridge and the Hofplein square. Marc Gené was one of the main players at apress conference as the representative of the Scuderia. After that he took partin a traditional welcome parade at the wheel of a Ferrari California beforetaking to the track for a session of demonstration laps in the cockpit of anF10, the car that took part in the 2010 Formula 1 world championship.
“To takepart in this event, as requested by our sponsor Santander, means that this wasthe first time in Rotterdam both for me and for the Ferrari Formula 1 car,” theSpanish driver told the press. “Compared to my previous experiences this is thelongest track that I have ever seen at a road show – and also the most twisty:usually at this kind of event you see long straights which you drive down inboth directions, but here the layout of the track reminds you of a real circuitand allows you to really test out the speed and braking areas. So I must passon my compliments to the city of Rotterdam and to the organisers of the event, who knew how to design such an interesting circuit on these streets that arenormally reserved for city traffic, thus offering the fans the chance to see aFormula 1 car in real live action.”
Some lightdamage to the rear suspension sustained by the F10 during the show allowed theentrance onto the circuit of a 2009-vintage F60. The F60 went out for a secondrun of hot laps at the end of a memorable day for the fans that were present, morethan 500,000 in total.
