After an intense season, the F1 World Championship ended in Brazil. A season marked by the dominance of Red Bull and Vettel but without forgetting the great contribution of Fernando Alonso. Brazil closes a season, but it opens a new one in which Ferrari is going to be back to fight again for the victory.
With regards to this season, Marc comments: Possibly Silverstone was the best race for us. At that time we thought we could have a similar comeback to the one from last year but it was not possible. It was the beginning of a dream that lasted only a couple of races and forced us to focus on the next season back in summer.
Marc has no doubts that Red Bull’s domination has been based on innovation and the use of the blown diffusers: “I do really thing this is the key fact to his great performance this year. I can certainly say that the difference between racing with or without the diffusers is huge when it comes to grip. It allows you to run a lot more in every corner and it gives you a few more thousandths. I hope next season will be more equal.
As for drivers, besides the brilliant champion, Sebastian Vettel, Marc wants to highlight the great performance of his teammate Fernando: In my opinion his season has been great with memorable exits and performances. I would also like to point out Alguersuari without forgetting Jenson Button who has overshadowed Hamilton.”
Re 2012, Marc truly believes that the blown diffusers prohibition will play a key role: The fact of having won at Silverstone without the diffusers makes me think that our car was not so bad and there is no reason for not being competitive next year. The design of the Ferrari is going to be more aggressive and innovative and I hope we can fight for the Championship from the first race.
