06-11-2012 Marc Gené will finally compete at Le Mans 24 Hours replacing Timo Bernhard who has not been able to fully recover from the testing accident he suffered in March. The 31-year-old Audi factory driver was planned to  run in the Audi R18 ultra designated as car number "3." His place will now be taken by Audi’s reserve driver Marc Gené. The Spaniard drove his first race for Audi in early May at the second round of the FIA World  Endurance Championship WEC where together with Romain Dumas and Loïc Duval he  clinched overall victory.

05-24-2012 On Sunday, 20 May, Marc Gené set a new unofficial track record at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca during the Ferrari Racing Days meeting, driving the Ferrari F2003GA with a time of 1:05.78, beating the previous unofficial best of 1:05.88 set by Sebastien Bourdais in a Panoz DP01-Cosworth Champ Car during preseason testing in 2007. The ex-Rubens Barrichello racer is owned by Bud Moeller.

05-06-2012 Audi delivered a thrilling premiere of two new vehicle models: Romain Dumas/Loïc Duval/Marc Gené won the Spa 6 Hours, the second round of the FIA World Endurance Championship WEC, in an open battle of the vehicle concepts. Crossing the finish line behind the Audi R18 ultra of the trio were last year’s Le Mans winners Marcel Fässler/André Lotterer/Benoît Tréluyer. They had dominated the race in the early phase with the Audi R18 e-tron quattro, the first diesel hybrid sports car in history. In the end, they had to admit defeat though. The other two Audi driver teams completed the perfect 1-2-3-4 victory of the brand.
